Completion of the Alaska Lumber Grading program training allows sawmill operators to certify their dimension lumber products – which can then be used to meet residential building code requirements for structural lumber in light-frame wood construction.
The training includes instruction and practice on visually grading structural lumber, as well as information on wood mechanical properties, the wood-moisture relationship, and how to properly dry lumber.
There is no cost to register, but pre-registration is required to attend. There are no pre-requisites but some prior sawmill and carpentry experience is recommended.
